Amjyot likely to miss India’s first two FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification games

Amjyot Singh is likely to miss India's FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification matches against Lebanon and Syria owing to his commitments with Oklahoma City Blue in the NBA G League.

Amjyot Singh recently became the first Indian national to get drafted to the final roster directly from the G League Draft.

Key player Amjyot Singh is likely to miss India’s upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification (Asia first round) matches against Lebanon and Syria. Amjyot is busy with his commitments with Oklahoma City Blue in the NBA G League .

Efforts are on to fulfill visa requirements for Amritpal Singh, who is currently competing as a professional in Australia . Star shooting guard Vishesh Bhriguvanshi has been ruled out due to an injury. Satnam Singh, the first Indian to get picked in an NBA draft, is in the squad.

In its first Group ‘C’ match, India takes on Lebanon (at Zouk Mikael, Lebanon) on Thursday. On November 26, India faces Syria at the Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium here.

National coach Zoran Visic stated that his team lacks match-practice. “The problem is that our players are not in good fitness, because they haven’t been playing in any league. Therefore, there is risk of sustaining an injury. I say this because we play against Lebanon, who have a very strong league, and they are in good shape,” Zoran said here on Saturday.
