Afghanistan players check in for month-long camp at Sri Ramachandra

The Sri Ramachandra Centre for Sports Science (CSS) has a MoU with the Afghanistan Cricket Board and Afghan players come here on a regular basis for training and injury rehabilitation.

Around 48 Afghanistan cricketers will train at Shri Ramachandra Centre for Sports Science for the next one month.

The Afghanistan senior and emerging sides are at the Sri Ramachandra Centre for Sports Science (CSS) here for training ahead of a crucial season that includes the ICC ODI World Cup.

M. Sanjay, director of cricket operations, CSS, said on Monday, “In all as many as 48 cricketers, 24 from the Afghan National team and the rest comprising emerging players will be here. The camp will go on for nearly a month.”

Some of the big names such as Rashid Khan, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, and Mohammad Shehzad, busy with the Ten/10 tournament in the Middle East will join the camp later. Others have already started their practise here.

The CSS has a MoU with the Afghanistan Cricket Board and Afghan players come here on a regular basis for training and injury rehabilitation.

Sanjay said, “The Afghanistan cricketers are really impressed with the facilities here. In fact, Afghanistan’s emerging players team will be travelling to Sri Lanka from here.”

Former West Indies opener Phil Simmons is the coach of the Afghan side. He has ambitious plans for this team.
