England all-rounder Ben Stokes continued to struggle for form during his stint with Canterbury.

Stokes took 1-56 with the ball for Canterbury against Northern Districts in the Ford Trophy on Sunday.

Later, he was run out for a duck after facing just one ball in Canterbury's chase as it fell to a 43-run loss.

Stokes has struggled for Canterbury, making scores of two and 34 before his duck.

He has taken a combined 1-144 with the ball in three matches.

Stokes was named in England's squad for the one-day international series against Australia, but his return to the international arena remains subject to the outcome of police and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) investigations.

He is the subject of an ECB suspension as he waits to hear whether he will be charged for his involvement in a disorder that took place in Bristol in September. The 26-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and subsequently released under investigation without charge.
