Ravichandran Ashwin picked up two wickets as Worcestershire restricted Leicestershire to 404 in its first innings in a County League second division match on Wednesday. In reply, Worcestershire was at 270-4 at stumps.

After a rather dull first day, Ashwin furrowed the Leicestershire tail, dismissing centurion Neil Dexter for 114. Resuming on overnight score of 102, Dexter was trapped leg before by Ashwin, who also cleaned up Dieter Klein for 26.

In reply, Worcestershire was lifted by D'Oliveira's unbeaten 121. Eyeing a promotion, it would be hoping to make the most of the opportunity.

Elsewhere, former Sri Lanka international Kumar Sangakkara scored his seventh century for Surrey in its match against Yorkshire. Sangakkara's ton powered Surrey to 592. Yorkshire, in reply, was at 171-1.
