BCCI elections on October 23 instead of October 22
The BCCI’s much-awaited elections have been rescheduled by a day to October 23 in the wake of assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra.

The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) has extended the deadline to complete the state association elections to October 4, while the date of the BCCI election has been rescheduled to October 23.
The election was earlier scheduled to be held on October 22, but with Maharashtra and Haryana going into assembly elections a day before, the CoA decided to push back the Board polls by a day.
“In order to facilitate and secure compliance by various State Associations and for conduct of elections in the member State Associations in accordance with the judgment dated 18th July 2016 and 9th August, 2018 and any further order and judgement that the Hon''ble Supreme Court may be pleased to pass, the COA hereby extends the date for completion of election by member State Associations to 4th October, 2019,” the CoA said in a statement.
The three-member committee, headed by Vinod Rai, had earlier asked the state associations to complete the election process by September 28.
With the Supreme Court allowing Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) to hold elections to the post of assistant secretary and directing that disqualification shall be confined only to those who had held the post of ‘Office Bearers’ of the cricket associations, the CoA has also modified the clarifications they passed on September 16.
“This advisory is being issued in light of the order passed by the Hon''ble Supreme Court on 20th September, 2019 wherein the Hon''ble Supreme Court has inter alia directed that, ''disqualification shall be confined only to those who had held the post of "Office Bearers" of the Cricket Associations,” the statement read.
“It is the respectful understanding of the Committee of Administrators ("COA") that the said direction relaxes the disqualification in Rule 6(5)(f) and Rule 14 (3)(f) of the BCCI Constitution and the pari materia provisions in the constitutions of the member State Associations.”
It also clarified on the nine-year period, which drew flak from various state bodies. “The relaxation is that the 9 year period mentioned in the said rules is to be computed by taking into account only the period served by individuals as "Office Bearers" cumulatively [without adding or taking into account the period served in any other position such as Member of a Governing Council or Managing Committee, etc.]. All other disqualifications remain in full force viz. those contained in Rule 6(5) (a) to (e) and (g) and Rule 14 (3)(a) to (e) and (g).”
The CoA has also asked state associations not to re-amend their constitutions which were already approved. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Tuesday sought advise from the Amicus Curiae for conducting its elections.
