After a controversial tweet that seemed to take a dig at the recent developments in Tamil Nadu politics, Ravichandran Ashwin clarified saying "there was nothing political about" it.

Ravichandran Ashwin on Monday tweeted: 'To all the youngsters in TN, 234 job opportunities to open up shortly.'

Indian team's star all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin, in a tweet on Monday, appeared to make a loaded statement suggesting fresh elections in Tamil Nadu before long.

He then clarified saying there was nothing political about what he tweeted. It was not a carrom ball about the impending change at the helm after all.

In his first tweet, Ashwin said:

The use of 234 appeared significant since the Tamil Nadu assembly had the same number of seats. This, coming at a time when a new Chief Minister was to be sworn in soon, created a storm of sorts.

Ashwin then tweeted:

Ashwin’s manager V. Balaji said to Sportstar , "He said 234 because it, perhaps, is a fancy number. It has nothing to do with politics. Ashwin is only trying to create jobs through his foundation and his GenNext cricket academy."

Balaji elaborated, "Ashwin is supporting several causes like eye and blood donation, road safety and hundred per cent electoral turn-out. In fact, he is a brand ambassador for the State election commission."

Even as he pursues his cricketing ambitions and social causes, Ashwin remains busy on the social media. His tweet on Monday, though, became a talking point.
