Paras Dogra hammered a double century as Puducherry amassed 418-4 against Sikkim on the first day of its Ranji Trophy Plate group match at the Krishnagiri Stadium in Wayanad on Thursday.

Joining the team as a professional guest player from Himachal Pradesh, Dogra scored 253 in 244 deliveries to put Puducherry in the driver’s seat.

Taking advantage of a toothless bowling attack, Dogra crafted his innings with 30 boundaries and seven sixes.

Opener Vikneshwaran Marimuthu scored 78 and captain Rohit Damodaren's 59 helped the team. For Sikkim, Bipul Sharma scalped a couple of wickets, giving away 103 runs.

At the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun, Puneet Bisht hammered 154, while Yogesh Nagar played a knock of 91 to help Meghalaya reach 294-5 against Uttarakhand. Sunny Kashyap and Dhanraj Sharma scalped two wickets apiece for the host team.

At the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Patna, Bihar’s Ashutosh Aman scalped four wickets to bundle out Arunachal Pradesh for 84 in the first innings.

In reply, Indrajith Kumar played an unbeaten knock of 127, along with captain Babul Kumar (batting on 72) to help the home team end the day on 250-1.
