Ranji Trophy: Maharashtra-Assam a match of inconsequence

With Karnataka and Delhi having already booked a knock-out place from Group A, neither teams that will face each other at the historic Poona Club ground will have anything else but pride to play for.

While Maharashtra is placed fifth with 10 points, Assam is languishing at the bottom of the table with just two points.

Surendra Bhave and Lalchand Rajput have been involved in many a duels during their heydays as opening batsmen of Maharashtra and Mumbai, respectively. In charge of Maharashtra and Assam teams now, the erstwhile arch-rivals will revive their rivalry in what would be an otherwise inconsequential last league game for both the teams.
