Vidarbha on Sunday clinically secured a 10–wicket win over Bengal to gather seven points and strengthen its position atop Group D of the Ranji Trophy.
On the concluding day of the match at the Bengal Cricket Association (BCA) ground here, Vidarbha restricted Bengal to 306 and achieved the target of 14 runs without any loss for its third outright victory the season.
When Bengal resumed its second innings at 86 for three after following on, it had the difficult task of avoiding an innings defeat. It banked on half-centuries by Wriddhiman Saha (97, 116b, 13x4, 2x6) and Sudip Chatterjee (82, 220b, 12x4) to sidestep the humiliation of an innings defeat, but could not avert a big loss.

Vidarbha 499 and 18 for 0 beat Bengal 207 and 306 (Saha 97, Chatterjee 82; Yadav 4 for 54, Sarvate 3 for 59) by 10 wickets.
