New Zealand paceman Colin de Grandhomme made his only appearance in the ODI team in 2012.

Paceman Lockie Ferguson is set for his New Zealand debut after being named in a 14-man squad for the One-Day International series against Australia.

Ferguson, 25, has played just eight List A matches, taking 16 wickets at an average of 28.12. Todd Astle could make his ODI debut during the three-match series, while Colin de Grandhomme is back in the squad, having made his only appearance in 2012.

As expected, batsman Ross Taylor is sidelined due to an eye injury, but Colin Munro is set to make his return. "Lockie has been impressive on the domestic scene and bowls at a pace which gives our bowling attack a different option," Black Caps selector Gavin Larsen said.

"Todd and Colin de Grandhomme have both been in our thinking for ODIs and their ability with bat and ball gives the squad an important balance.

"It's good to see Colin Munro return and immediately have an impact for Auckland. He's shown how dynamic a batsman he is, so it's great to have him available again, especially in Ross' absence."

Adam Milne, Mitchell McClenaghan, George Worker and Corey Anderson are out injured. The first match of the series is in Sydney on December 4.
