Fit Rohit Sharma set to play for Mumbai in Vijay Hazare Trophy

As the Mumbai side faces Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, it will see Sharma taking the field, returning from a long injury lay-off. On Wednesday, the batsman made it clear that he will also be playing Mumbai’s last league match against Goa on March 6.

Rohit Sharma will be taking the field when Mumbai takes on Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, followed by the one against Goa.

After staying away from the international cricket circuit for five months, a fit Rohit Sharma is all set to make a comeback.

The batsman, who underwent a thigh surgery in November last year, will be donning the Mumbai colours in its last two group league matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Chennai.

As the Mumbai side faces Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, it will see Sharma taking the field, returning from a long injury lay-off. On Wednesday, the batsman made it clear that he will also be playing Mumbai’s last league match against Goa on March 6. “Finally done with rehab,Can't wait to play Vijay Hazare on 4th & 6th. Thank you to everyone who helped me get here. Counting down the minutes.” Sharma wrote on Twitter.

 

The India international, who last donned the national colours during the New Zealand ODI series suffered a thigh injury in the last match for which he had to undergo a surgery in London. Since then, he missed the England series, and is not even considered for the ongoing Australia series. However, he has been undergoing a rehabilitation programme for the last few days to get back into the groove.

Though the star batsman announced his decision on the social media, the Mumbai team management is not sure about when the player would join the team in Chennai. “I haven’t heard anything about it yet. There has not been any communication on that matter,” Mumbai manager Ganesh Iyer told Sportstar .
