India vs Pakistan Old Trafford weather update: Rain lashes Manchester

A British Met department official had told Sportstar earlier in the day that rains were to be expected in the western parts of the UK including Manchester.

Rains lashed Manchester on the eve of the India-Pakistan World Cup 2019 match.

After a brief sunny spell through Saturday morning, Manchester experienced heavy showers in the afternoon, casting a shadow over the India-Pakistan World Cup 2019 match at Old Trafford on June 16.

 

However, this was on expected lines. A British Met department official had told

Sportstar earlier in the day that rains were to be expected  in the western parts of the UK including Manchester. The official said the skies were expected to be

clear up by evening .

The Cricket World Cup 2019, with four rained out matches, already has the most number of no result/abandoned games since the tournament started in 1975.

This is the first World Cup in which three matches have been abandoned without a ball being bowled. The Bangladesh-Sri Lanka match in Bristol, was the second washout at the venue in five days.

The other three rained out matches were Sri Lanka-Pakistan in Bristol, the West Indies-South Africa game in Southampton which was abandoned after 7.3 overs and the India-New Zealand contest at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

India has started its World Cup campaign with two wins. Captain Virat Kohli and his men would be hoping the rain relents when they take on arch-rival Pakistan at Old Trafford on Sunday.
