India takes on Sri Lanka at Headingley in its last league game at World Cup 2019.

Hello and welcome to Sportstar's LIVE updates and hourly weather predictions from Leeds, where India and Sri Lanka will lock horns in a Cricket World Cup 2019 match at Headingley.

K.C. Vijaya Kumar pings from Leeds: It rained a weebit at dawn, a bit cloudy but should clear

Where they stand| India needs to beat Sri Lanka and hope Australia loses to South Africa if it wants to avoid playing England in the semifinal. However, if Australia beats South Africa today then regardless of the outcome in the India vs Sri Lanka match, India will play England and Australia will take on New Zealand in the last-four.

The World Meteorological Organization said 2019 was on track to be among the world’s hottest years, and that 2015-2019 would then be the hottest five-year period on record.

This has been quite a world cup weather wise, hasn't it? Starting with incessant rains, across venues, playing spoilsport to experiencing near heat wave like conditions, the flippant English weather — much like the topsy turvy business end of World Cup 2019 — has caught many by surprise.

NOTE: The World Cup did not have reserve days for the group stage. However, the semis and final are covered.

India's match against New Zealand at Trent Bridge was the fourth match of World Cup 2019 to be abandoned so far, and the third to be called off without a ball being bowled.

This has already surpassed the previous highest number of washed-out matches in a World Cup - two in 1992 and 2003. Will we have another washout in the remaining five games? Let's hope not!

The next week will see India, England, Australia and New Zealand battle it out in the semifinals before two teams have a crack at the silverware at Lord's in London on July 14. The weather forecast for next week, however, is a bit dicey with spells of heavy showers in the offing. Here's what the Met Department has to say: "It will be a slightly more unsettled period than of late, with outbreaks of rain or showers, possibly heavy at times. Probably becoming a little fresher and more settled into the weekend, with the showers becoming less widespread from the west."

According to the British Met Department : Any early rain and cloud will clear by mid morning, leaving some lengthy sunny spells with just fair weather cloud. Winds becoming light, and feeling pleasant in the sunshine. Maximum temperature 22 °C.
