On Sunday, the pair got together with India reeling at two for three and stabilised the run-chase. Kohli and Rahul brought up their half-centuries in 72 and 75 deliveries, respectively.

India’s highest fourth wicket partnership across all ODIs is worth 275 runs, stitched between Ajay Jadeja and Mohammad Azharuddin in 1998 against Zimbabwe.

The partnership between Kohli and Rahul ended when the former, batting on 85, offered a catch at short mid-wicket off the bowling of Josh Hazlewood.
