World Cup 2019: Vijay Shankar scans reveal no fracture

Vijay Shankar was rested for the World Cup warm-up game against New Zealand after the scans on his forearm revealed no fracture.

Vijay Shankar took a knock on his forearm during India's net session at The Oval on Friday.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Vijay Shankar will stay with the team after the scans revealed that there was no fracture on his forearm.

The Tamil Nadu all-rounder was hit on his forearm during a net session on Friday, which led to speculation that the player might miss out on the tournament. But on Saturday, the Board revealed that the “BCCI medical team is aiding him in his recovery.”

India plays its first World Cup fixture against South Africa on June 5.
