Batting first, South Africa was all out for 118 inside 33 overs. Hence, India had to reach the target within 15 overs to maintain the session timeline. The umpires, however, had agreed to extend the session by four overs, making it 19.
But nobody expected the umpires to stick to their rules leaving common sense behind. Chasing 119 to win, Virat Kohli (44*) and Shikhar Dhawan (51*) were in full swing with India poised at 117/2. They couldn’t believe when they heard the word “lunch”.
Now, the players have to come back and score two runs after a 40-minute break.
