Rahul ruled out of the first Test

Rahul scored a fine half-century in a tour match in Colombo, his first competitive game in three months due to an injury lay-off.

K. L. Rahul is a doubtful starter for the series opener in Sri Lanka.

A fever has ruled India opener K. L. Rahul out of the first Test against Sri Lana, which begins on Wednesday.

Rahul made a a fine half-century in his first competitive match after a three-month injury layoff, against the Sri Lanka Board President's XI.

He also missed Monday’s practise session here. "There are no major health concerns and he is making rapid progress, much to the satisfaction of the medical team," said a BCCI press release.

Shikhar Dhawan and Abhinav Mukund are likely to open for India.

The team’s other regular opener, Murali Vijay, too pulled out of the series at the last minute, saying he had not fully recovered from a wrist injury.
