The entire Indian team, led by captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, chose the final one-dayer as the platform to express gratitude to their mothers by wearing the team jerseys with their mother’s names inscribed.

Just before the final one-dayer against New Zealand, which is also the decider as the two teams were tied two-all in the five-match series at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Stadium here on Saturday, Dhoni was on record in an interview to the official broadcaster to remind that “we are quite used to having the surnames from the Dad's side. And, what's important is to appreciate the stuff that Mothers have done for us,”
“It's a very emotional connect and it's good that it is put on a public platform. I would like to request the whole of India keeps this in mind every day and appreciate them everyday,” Dhoni said.
It may be recalled here that some of these cricketers including Dhoni (mother’s name Devki), Ajinkya Rahane (mother’s name Sujata), Virat Kohli (Saroj Kohli) have already been seen on tv recapping the contribution of the elderly ladies and the sacrifices they made in making them successful cricketers.
This is the first time that the Indian cricketers are said to be wearing these jerseys with mothers’ names.
