Indian speedster Varun Aaron bowled an expensive spell as he finished with figures of one for 89 as Leicestershire succumbed to a six-wicket defeat to Worcestershire in a record-breaking Royal London One-Day Cup tie at the New Road in Worcester on Tuesday.

Electing to bat, the visitor posted a mammoth total of 376 for the loss of four wickets, courtesy Ben Raine's 83, with skipper Paul Horton, Mark Cosgrove and Colin Ackermann also contributing with fifties.

In reply, the host rode on Callum Ferguson's belligerent 143-ball 192, along with supporting acts from Joe Clarke, Daryl Mitchell and Brett D'Oliveira, that saw itself home by six wickets, with 16 balls to spare. Aaron, eventually, dismissed Ferguson but the result was beyond doubt with the Worcs just seven runs away from the target.

With this win, Worcestershire rises to the top spot in the North Group table, while Leicestershire stays at the bottom, in the ninth spot. Meanwhile, Leicestershire hosts Lancashire on Thursday.

In London, fellow Indian speedster Ishant Sharma missed out on the action again for Sussex as inclement weather forced the tie against Surrey at The Oval to be abandoned without a ball being bowled.

As a result, the teams split points among themselves. While Sussex rises to the third spot in the South Group table, Surrey moves up to sixth. Sussex travels to Cardiff on Friday to play Glamorgan.
