Hashim Amla's 40-ball 65 included nine fours and two sixes.

Form didn’t wear thin for Hashim Amla. After a swashbuckling ton against Mumbai Indians, which went in vain, Amla, at the top, took on the Gujarat Lions bowlers.

Amla’s form was evident from the first ball he faced. Shubham Agarwal had pitched the ball a trifle wide of the off-stump. Amla, unhurried, got to the pitch of the ball, and with an elegant flow of the willow, sent the ball careening to the cover boundary. Twenty one of Amla’s 65 — from a 40-ball stay — came against Lions’s primary spinner, Ravindra Jadeja. He scored three boundaries off Jadeja. The best of which was a six he hoisted over extra-cover when Jadeja tossed the ball a bit.
