The DC vs CSK contest will go ahead as per schedule at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.

All members of Delhi Capitals have tested negative for COVID-19, according to the results of RT-PCR tests taken in the morning after a net bowler was found to be infected.

It frees the members from quarantine but a full-strength squad still cannot take the field against Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) contest as Prithvi Shaw has been hospitalised with fever. The diminutive opener wrote on social media: “Admitted in hospital and recovering from fever. Thank you for all your good wishes. Will be back in action soon.”

Now that an opening slot is vacant, at least for this game, it is possible that Ashwin Hebbar or Yash Dhull are given their first game for their club.

Both are attacking openers, Dhull making headlines this year by leading India to the U-19 World Cup and scoring a bucketful of runs in the Ranji Trophy. The team management may also choose to include the seasoned Sarfaraz Khan in the line-up. Sarfaraz has played four matches for the Capitals this season.

Other batters who could make the cut are: Mandeep Singh and Ripal Patel.
