Monty Desai likely to coach Andhra

Monty Desai has been one of the sought after names in international cricket coaching. Having worked with teams like Afghanistan and Nepal, Desai also has proved his class with Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Lions.

And now, the Andhra Cricket Association has roped in Desai as its coach for this Ranji Trophy.

While sources in the association have confirmed to Sportstar that Desai will take charge as the coach season, it has also been learnt that the formalities will be completed in the next few days.

In his long and illustrious coaching career, Desai has been known for scouting young talents. As a coaching staff of Rajasthan Royals till 2015, Desai has played a key role in discovering youngsters like Sanju Samson.

In the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), Desai had mentored Tuti Patriots for the first two seasons, and will be coaching Lyca Kovai Kings this season.
