From slamming a 330-ball 546 in an inter-school match for Rizvi Springfield in 2013 to leading the India under-19 team to the world title in 2018, the 19-year-old Prithvi Shaw has enjoyed plenty of highs in his young career. However, a doping violation for which he was charged in mid-July has come as a major setback.
2013: Hailed as a child prodigy who had been making waves on Mumbai’s inter-school circuit since he was eight years old, Shaw plundered a record 546 runs off 330 balls in an inter-school game for Rizvi Springfield. Later in the same year, as a 13-year-old, he captained Mumbai Under-16 in BCCI tournaments.
2017: The boy wonder made a smooth transition into the big league.He started the year with a hundred on first-class debut, during Mumbai's Ranji Trophy semifinal versus Tamil Nadu in Rajkot, then repeated the feat on his Duleep Trophy debut in August and ended the year with three hundreds in his first full Ranji season, thus tallying five first-clas hundreds before turning 18
February 2018: Shaw lead from the front as India U-19 lifted the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand by mauling Australia. Shaw tallied 261 runs at 65.25 in the tournament
October 2018: The run machine marked his Test debut with a flawless hundred against West Indies in Rajkot. It paved way for his selection in India’s touring party for the big series in Australia
November 2019: Twisted ankle while attempting catch during a tour game in Australia. His rehab prolonged than expected, thus sparking murmurs over his attitude and lifestyle issues May 2019: A topsy-turvy IPL campaign for Delhi Daredevils was followed with Shaw leading his local franchise to T20 Mumbai title. He also hurt his hip during the tournament.
July 2019: Banned till November 15 for an inadvertent doping violation occurred during his comeback to competitive cricket, the Syed Mushaq Ali Trophy in February.
