Mulapadu cricket complex, venue of the Quadrangular Series, on Sunday morning with covers on. Heavy rains forced abandonment of the two matches scheduled on Sunday.

The two matches in the Quadrangular Series one-day cricket championship in Mulapadu were called off due to inclement weather conditions.

The conditions were bright and sunny on Saturday morning with all the four teams - Australia-A, South Africa-A, India-A and India-B - even training at the venue.

However, heavy rains over the week had cast doubts on the possibility of play, and incessant showers since Saturday evening - said to be one of the heaviest in recent times - ultimately forced the groundstaff to cover most of the playing areas.

The match officials had an inspection on Sunday morning but the outfield was deemed unfit for play. With no action in sight, the four teams returned to their hotel.

This also meant the Quadrangular Series scheduled to start on August 17 is yet to witness any action and with rains forecast over the next two days, it is unlikely whether there will be any play possible even on Monday which otherwise is a rest day.
