Former India spinner and erstwhile coach of India's women's cricket team, Ramesh Powar, has been appointed the bowling coach of India A men's team for its series against South Africa A.
The 41-year-old Powar played two Test matches and 31 ODIs during a career that spanned a decade-and-a-half.
Last year, he was handed the role of coach for the India women's team, but he found himself in the middle of a major controversy after a fallout with Mithali Raj during the World T20.

Mithali, who was left out of the final XI for India's semifinal clash at the World T20, wrote to the BCCI accusing Powar of trying to 'destroy' her career. In response, Powar had revealed that Mithali had threatened to quit if she wasn't allowed to open the batting.
Even though Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur backed Powar for an extension, the BCCI decided to conduct fresh interviews and W.V. Raman was appointed the new coach.
