UPDATES

So that wraps up the day's action. The first-innings lead will be crucial at the Govt. Gandhi Memorial Science College Ground in Jammu, and J&K has given itself a good chance of obtaining that lead. Karnataka was bowled out for 206, and in reply, J&K is on 88 for 2. Yet, one never knows what will happen; Karnataka will be back in the contest if it gets early wickets on the morrow. The good thing from its point of view is that there is play, finally, after two days of sitting around.

A reminder: a first-innings lead will hand J&K a semifinal spot.

In Ongole and in Valsad, the contests are turning out to be one sided. Bengal has the advantage in Cuttack.

We'll, of course, bring you all the action from Day Four. Join us, at 9.30am. Until then, it's goodbye.

Andhra vs Saurashtra | Andhra eight down now. Unadkat was right yesterday, says Wriddhaayan, when he said Andhra may have missed a trick by not including a frontline spinner in the playing XI; left-arm spinner Dharmendrasinh Jadeja picks up his third, M. Rafi goes for a duck.

This was the fifth wicket of the innings for Gaja.

Here's Amol : Three minutes before the break, Gaja finally gets an edge and picks a deserving fifer. Goa wrapped up for 173, with a deficit of 429. With the semifinal berth assured, just before letting Gaja lead the back into the dressing room, captain Parthiv Patel signals to the Goa camp that he will bat after lunch.

Gujarat vs Goa | The first session will be extended, as Goa has lost its ninth wicket. Here's Amol : And we have an extension. Two balls before what should have been the last over of the session, Nagwaswalla-Parthiv combine strikes again as Felix Alemao gives catching practice. The score: 135 for 4.

Here's more from our correspondent Shreedutta Chidananda, who is at the venue : J&K will be happy with this session, having taken the two big wickets of Pandey and Nair. Karnataka has Siddharth to thank. The right hander has been patient and watchful. Batting has not been easy, with the bounce uneven at times.

One more wicket in the next two overs and the session will be extended.

Andhra vs Saurashtra | Here's Wriddhaayan Bhattacharyya updating us on what's going on in Ongole : Andhra is doing what it needs to do; put everyone to sleep. The handful of spectators here don't mind that at all as long as they bat for the day. Saurashtra is bowling Jani from one end, and slow left-arm Jadeja from the other. The ball is turning a little bit which is charging up the Saurashtra boys.

Andhra 87 for 2 (53 overs).

Here's Amol : Snehal Kauthankar (30, 71b, 6x4) was driving well but Chintan Gaja gets one to shape in, gets a thick edge on to the pad and to the batsman's dismay, umpire Nandan raises his finger. Terrible decision. Goa 137 for 6 and Gujarat openers may well start shadow-practising for a second dig. Three balls later, Darshan Misal gets an edge and Samit Gohel lunges in front of the first slip and pouches it brilliantly. 137 for 7.

Chintan Gaja, the medium-pacer, has four wickets.

Odisha vs Bengal | It's lunch, in Cuttack. Odisha is on 230 for 7, after 99 overs bowled in the innings. Subhransu Senapati (39 n.o., 96b) is batting alongside Suryakant Pradhan (9, 7b).

Andhra vs Saurashtra | Here's Wriddhaayan Bhattacharyya : Gnaneshwar was dropped by Harvik Desai at slip off Sakariya. So, two catches have already been dropped by Saurashtra.

Gujarat vs Goa | Goa loses one more. Here's Amol Karhadkar, once again : Amit Verma has had a charmed life, having survived two lbw shouts — off Kalaria on the second evening and off Gaja this morning — when he looked plumb in front of the wickets. He eventually runs out of luck as as he whips Kalaria but Axar Patel pouches it inches inside the long-leg boundary. Verma dismissed for 56 (87b, 9x4, 2x6), Goa 104 for 4.

How's that: Bengal seamer Ishan Porel appeals for lbw. - BISWARANJAN ROUT

Gujarat vs Goa | Here's Amol Karhadkar with more : Amit Verma welcomes Axar Patel into the attack with back-to-back sixes, the second of which helps him cross yet another fifty. He is closing in on 850 runs for the season (791 in Plate Group, against mediocre teams). Goa 99 for 3.

Odisha vs Bengal | At the DRIEMS Ground in Cuttack, Odisha is six down after Biplab Samantray's dismissal. Samantray was dismissed leg-before-wicket by Mukesh Kumar, a 26-year-old medium pacer. Odisha 198 for 6, and needs another 135 runs to take the first-innings lead.

Earlier, Debabrata Pradhan was dismissed in first over after Bengal took the new ball. He fell to Nilkantha Das, who has three wickets now.

Aquib Nabi and Mujtaba Yousuf have two wickets each.

The third-wicket partnership was worth 61 off 58 deliveries.

Andhra vs Saurashtra | It's a windy morning in Ongole, says Wriddhaayan Bhattacharyya, our correspondent, who is at the CSR Sharma Ground. Avi Barot just dropped Ricky Bhui on 10 off Prerak Mankad. Andhra 64 for 2.

Odisha's Biplab Samantray (left) walks back after being dismissed. - BISWARANJAN ROUT

Goa vs Gujarat | Amol Karhadkar with an update: Been a relatively quiet morning so far, with Gujarat pacers tying the two Goa professionals down. It took 24 balls for Goa to add a run to its overnight tally of 46 for 2, when a tentative Amit Verma prod off Kalaria raced to mid-on for a four. Since then, the scoreboard has been moving. And as as I type this, Gujarat has got the breakthrough, with Smit Patel, who was Parthiv's understudy in Gujarat not too long ago, missing a straight one from Gaja to be lbw. He gets a send-off by his erstwhile team-mates. Goa 72 for 3.

Bengal vs Odisha | Early setback for Odisha as Nilkantha Das removes Debabrata Pradhan to leave the hosts five down. Odisha 196 for 5.

Andhra vs Saurashtra | Ricky Bhui holds the key along with opener C.R. Gnaneshwar as Andhra aims to bat the day out and reach closer to Saurashtra's total of 419. Andhra 55 for 2.

Karnataka vs J&K | Shreedutta Chidananda with an update : And Karnataka loses a wicket off the second ball of the day. Karun Nair edges Aquib Nabi behind. It was just a gentle defensive push. Karnataka 56 for 3.

----------------------

There was bright sunshine at the Govt. Gandhi Memorial Science College Ground in Jammu in the evening on Day Two, and Karnataka will hope it stays that way for the entire day today to get some cricket in. It's been a frustrating couple of days for the side as only six overs could be bowled in the match - on Day One, due to bad light, and on Day Two, due to wet patches caused by overnight rain.

Who will take the first-innings lead in Cuttack? The contest is nicely poised ; Odisha is 181 runs behind and has six wickets in hand. Bengal would have been buoyed by the wicket of Govinda Poddar; he was dismissed off what turned out to be the final delivery of Day Two. Opener Shantanu Mishra and No. 3 Debasish Samantray have been the chief architects of the innings so far for the home team.

In contrast, the quarterfinal contest at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Valsad is turning out to be quite one sided . After Parthiv Patel's century on the first day, Roosh Kalaria pitched in with his own century as Gujarat registered a total of 602 for 8 before declaring. Goa, in reply, is struggling, having lost its openers early.

In Ongole , Saurashtra has gained control after Chirag Jani and Prerak Mankad batted for much of Day Two. Andhra trails by 379 runs in the first innings, with eight wickets in hand.

STUMPS

In Cuttack : Odisha 151 for 4 (D. Samantray 68, Mishra 62) trails Bengal 332 by 181 runs.

In Jammu : Karnataka 14 for 2 vs J&K.

In Ongole : Andhra 40 for 2 trails Saurashtra 419 (Jani 121, Mankad 80, V. Jadeja 73, Jackson 50) by 379 runs.
