The IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said that the mushrooming cricket leagues across the globe are no match for the IPL. “The IPL as a standalone (product) is doing very well, IPL 9 will do better, IPL will grow further, it will go to many more countries. No leagues are any closer to the IPL and they cannot be a match to the IPL,” Shukla told reporters here during the player auction on Saturday.

Shukla’s views were reiterated by T. A. Sekar, Delhi Daredevils official. “Most stressful day for any country is the IPL auction day, be it England or Australia, all those players, who have given their names, track the auction. It (IPL) is big.”
