Hello and welcome to the highlights of the CFL 2019 mini Derby match between Mohun Bagan AC and Mohammedan SC.

90' + 5' FULL TIME: An upset for Kibu Vicuna's men here complicates things for the side in the near future.

Mohun Bagan slips to the fifth spot after nine games and it must win all its remaining encounters by considerable margins to increase its chances of keeping the trophy in its own cabinet. On the other hand, Mohammedan, with 16 points, is just one point behind leader Peerless after nine matches.

Meanwhile, Peerless is on song this season! It beat Bhowanipore today to stay at pole position with 17 points from just eight matches now. The GD is a whopping +12!

This was Santadeep Dey bringing you all the action as it unfurled at the Yuva Bharati.

90 + 3' Mohameddan holding the ball quite a bit now and who wouldn't want to do that? A win here would push the side to the second spot on the table. The Mohammedan fans in the stands have already started celebrating.

90' There will be an added time of five minutes, ladies and gentlemen!

84' Chamorro wins the ball from the Mohammedan defence but fails to find Subha at the other end of his pass.

77' Mohammedan with a series of infiltrations into the opposition half now. But Debjit pulls off some astounding saves to deny Md. Sporting another goal. Tirthankar was the one who came the closest to sniffing another chance with a vicious shot down Debjit's throat.

Meanwhile, in the other fixture, Peerless has bagged its fifth win, beating Bhowanipore 2-0, to maintain its pole position on the league table.

70' GOAL! And super-sub Salva Chamorro is at it again! Another Beitia freekick from about 25 yards away, has been headed into the net by Chamorro.

61' And I have jinxed it! Debjit's howler gifts Mohammedan the third goal.

The goalkeeper fails to hold on to a shot and the loose ball has been nudged home by the Nigerian midfielder John Chidi.

60' Mohun Bagan has looked to be the better of the two sides in the second half but the scoreline is still in favour of Mohammedan SC.

51' Debjit has shown sparks of brilliance in the match today: Chidi has been denied another opportunity.

49' Beitia to take another freekick, but this time the distance from goal is much more than the previous instance where he found the back of the net. He sends in a promising shot into the box where Sk Sahil wins the ball from the Md. Sporting defence but his shot floats above the crossbar.

46' Tirthankar's prompt shot on goal has been punched away by Debjit.

SECOND HALF

45 + 4' HALF TIME: Mohammedan Sporting, sure is rewriting the trend, isn't it?! Two early goals did the side's confidence a whole lot of good. Mohun Bagan, on the attacking front, has played well in patches against a resolute Mohammedan defence. However, one cannot just not talk about Joseba Beitia! His contribution to the Mariners has sure been unmatched!

45' A close shave for Mohammedan Sporting as Sujit Sahu makes a diving goal line save. Four minutes of added time signalled!

40' What was Romerio Jesuraj doing there?

Chullova directs one into the box, clearly catching the Md Sporting defence napping. However, Jesuraj fails to capitalise as well, mishitting the ball, which sails wide.

33' Another opportunity for Mohammedan Sporting to increase the lead! Chhangte has a half-hearted attempt at goal, but Debjit wouldn't miss those.

30' Chidi fails to make it to the other end of Tirthankar's cross. Kima steers it to safety.

27' Well, a drinks break has been taken! Yes, you heard me right. The Kolkata heat and humidity spares no one.

25' Joseba Beitia breathes life back into the Bagan unit with a searing inswinger from a 25-yard-freekick. Goalie Priyant looked clueless there! Mohun Bagan 1:2 Mohammedan Sporting

19' The Mohammedan defence has been like a concrete wall today until now. Mohun Bagan, minutes after falling behind by two goals, manages to infiltrate deep into its opponent's half quite a few times, but in vain!

10' AND THERE IS THE SECOND! Tirthankar Sarkar is the man this time.

The Kaalo Shaada squad's aggressive approach to the game is working wonders. Sarkar sprints quite a few yards to beat Debjit with a wonderful shot from within 18 yards.

7' GOAL! Mohammedan Sporting goes one up.

MB goalkeeper Debjit clearly didn't anticipate the curler from Changte's corner to find Kareem stationed at the first post. All Kareem had to do was gently tap it home.

4' Kibu Vicuna's boys are looking aggressive from the very first minute. However, Gonzalez's header has been taken care of by the Md Sporting defence.

3' An early freekick awarded to Mohun Bagan. Will Beitia be able to convert?

No, Prosenjit has kicked the ball away to safety. Mohammedan heaves a sigh of relief!

0' Mohun Bagan has set the ball rolling. The stands are relatively empty, with restrictions levied on the number of spectators due to security concerns.

15' GOAL: Meanwhile, at Kalyani, Edmond's goal off a freekick has already put Peerless ahead against Bhowanipore.

Mohammedan SC needs to rewrite the trend when it meets Mohun Bagan at the Yuva Bharati Krirangan in Salt Lake, Kolkata on Thursday.

Dodoz's winner back in 2016, last saw the Kaalo Shaada Brigade emerge the better of the two teams. However, the stakes are higher this time, with the CFL clash being a crucial encounter for Saheed Ramon's boys.

Mohammedan, with a win, will jump to the top of the table. However, a loss would put it in a spot of bother.

The 2019 league has been different from the other seasons in the sense that it hasn't been one dominated by the heavyweights as Peerless and Bhowanipore still continue to reign supreme - thanks to a better goal difference - over the Mariners and their arch-rival East Bengal.

The defending champion would like to consolidate its position with a win, as well. Kibu Vicuna's side, placed fourth on the standings now, will leapfrog to the top spot with a win. However, it would also have a big-margin victory in mind as well owing to its lower goal difference compared to the other top teams.

Head-to-head (last four matches): Mohammedan SC 1- 3 Mohun Bagan

Meanwhile, in another match at Kalyani, table-topper Peerless SC will be taking on second-placed Bhowanipore FC.

If Peerless wins the all-important contest its path to the title will be all but clear, with the side facing lower-placed sides next. If all goes well for the giant-slayer, which beat both EB and MB this year, this will be the first time since 1981 that a team other than the top three clubs (East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting) would be bagging the title.
