Eastern Sporting Union (ESU) beat Rising Student’s Club (RSC) 1-0 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong on Wednesday.

Eastern Sporting Union (ESU) clinched its second consecutive win in the Hero Indian Women’s League when it hoodwinked Rising Student’s Club (RSC) 1-0 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday.

Irom Prameshwori scored the lone goal for the defending champion. She lobbed the ball over the custodian in the third minute, with a little help from Kamala Devi.

Even Kamala had a go at the net in the 13 minute, but the effort landed inches outside the woodwork.

RSC had a chance in the 23 minute when Sanju and Lochana made inroads; but the former missed the net by a whisker.

In the 28 minute, Anju Tamang missed a sitter. She was clear with only Panthoi to beat, but adrenaline got the better of her as the shot flew over the bar.

Prameshwori and Kamala came close to doubling the lead, but they missed the target this time.

RSC came back stronger in the second half. The Sanju, Lochana and Anju trio kept the ESU defenders on their toes, but Manisa Panna and Umapati Devi kept them at bay.

ESU, on top of the table with six points from two games, will face India Rush SC in its next encounter on March 31 while RSC will take on KRYHPSA on the same day.
