Phil Foden celebrates putting Man City ahead against Tottenham Hotspur.

Eighteen-year-old Phil Foden scored his first Premier League goal on his second league start for Manchester City against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium.

Foden headed in Sergio Aguero's headed cross in the fifth minute to put City in front. He became the first player born in the 2000s to score for the club in the Premier League and the side's third youngest scorer in the league overall.

Foden replaced David Silva in City's starting XI as Pep Guardiola's men look to recover from their Champions League exit.

In December, after Foden helped City beat Hoffenheim in its final Champions League group fixture, Guardiola had said, "He looks skinny, not strong, but he's really really strong. He's an outstanding young player, I think England has a diamond."

Foden joined City when he was eight years old and has come up through the youth ranks. He impressed at FIFA Under-17 World Cup in India in 2017, scoring two goals in England's 5-2 win over Spain in the final at Salt Lake Stadium.
