Andrew Robertson's form with Liverpool has seen him named Scotland's skipper.

Liverpool signed Andrew Robertson from Hull City ahead of the 2017-18 season, spending an initial £8 million to seal the move. Since signing for the English top flight giant, Robertson has played in one Champions League final - losing to Real Madrid last season - and is just days away from a second successive appearance in the showpiece event.

Life was not always easy for the 25-year-old, however. When he was 17, he quit the Celtic academy to take up a job at Marks and Spencer. A tweet from 2012, which has gone viral now, paints a good picture of his situation then.

Speaking to Daily Mail last year, he said, "I'd have been 17, just turning 18 when I took that job. I was still at school. It was Christmas, they were bringing on temporary staff."

"I was one of them. I enjoyed it, to be honest with you! When I look back, that's where I feel it was quite good. I never put pressure on myself.

"I wasn't thinking, 'That's football gone'. I was relaxed. People fall out of love with the game when they leave academies. But I can cope with things. I've never thought to myself, 'I'm giving up on this'. There's no easy way to the top."

Currently involved in a tight battle for the Premier League title with Manchester City, we take a look at the Scotsman's career through a series of tweets.

He began his senior career at Queen's Park, in front of a 51,866-seater Hampden Park. But the arena wasn't packed to the terraces as he is used to at Anfield now.

In the summer of 2013 he moved to Dundee United, along with Queen's Park teammate Aidan Connolly. Dundee initially refused to pay a transfer fee but later agreed to giving Queen's Park a percentage from his future sale.

Queen's Park eventually would benefit from his Dundee move an year later, when Hull City spent £2.85 million to take him to England.

His time in the West Midlands also saw him pick up a trophy - the Championship play-offs title, as Hull sealed promotion to the Premier League.

While at Hull, he did enjoy watching Liverpool's games and wasn't shy from talking about it.

Two months later, he made his Premier League debut on 19 August, 2018 - in a 1–0 win over Crystal Palace.

While the Reds only finished fourth in the league, they went on to play in the Champions League final.

Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid, though, ended Liverpool's quest for the Champions League title by defeating it 3-1. But Jurgen Klopp's side has put aside that disappointment to progress to the Champions League final again, this time taking on Tottenham Hotspur on June 1.
