Sancho has made 16 appearances so far for the young Lions and has scored an impressive 13 goals.

England will have Jadon Sacho in its roster for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in India but his stint could be cut short after his parent club Borussia Dortmund refused to release the youngster beyond the group stages.

The Bundesliga side's reasoning being that the teenager will need to train with the club to improve his fitness. Sancho made a deadline day move in the transfer window from Manchester City, which has led the side to only allow him to participate in the group stages.

It was reported that the English Football Association (FA) and Dortmund were locked in negotiations in the past few days over the availability of the teenager for the showpiece event in India.

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told  Kicker  magazine, "We are in talks with the English FA."

"Maybe we will let him go in the coming weeks over the international break -- that would be for the World Cup group phase," he added.

Registration issues

Sancho was only recently eligible to play for Dortmund as his registration was processed late, with the teenager being involved with the youth and reserve teams ever since making his move until the recent greenlight.

He was voted as the Player of the Tournament in the Euro Under-17 Championships in Croatia earlier this summer where England lost the final to Spain.

Sancho has made 16 appearances so far for the young Lions and has scored an impressive 13 goals. The highly rated teenager featured on the bench for Peter Bosz’s side for the first time on the weekend for its 2-1 win over Augsburg FC.
