Lack of quality passes in the final third on both ends kept the score 0-0 at half-time in Volgograd Arena.

With genuine goal-scoring chances far and few in Volgograd Arena, Nigeria and Iceland ended the first half at 0-0 in the Group D match.

After the famous draw against Argentina in its opening match, Iceland looked set to play an attacking game in the opening minutes.

Gylfi Sigurdsson drew two good saves from Francis Uzoho in the first five minutes first from a free kick and then from open play.

The opening attempts on goal from Iceland where the only final third action in the match as Nigeria was unable to muster even one attempt on the goal.
