China won gold in the 10m air rifle mixed team event at Paris 2024 Olympics, the first medal event of the Games, on Saturday.
China’s Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao beat Republic of Korea’s Kim Jihyeon and Park Hajun 16-12 in the summit clash. It then won its second gold medal in the women’s diving event.
Australia also secured two gold medals - first in road cycling and then in swimming, when Ariarne Titmus defeated archrivals Summer McIntosh of Canada and USA’s Katie Ledecky to defend her 400m freestyle title.
Host France won its first gold medal of the 2024 Games after its men’s Rugby Sevens team defeated Fiji in the final. Belgium, Japan, Kazakhstand and Germany were the other NOCs who bagged gold on the opening day.

The 33rd edition of the Summer Olympics began in Paris on Friday and concludes on August 11.
The Paris Olympics feature 32 sports, including the 28 “core” disciplines, that include breaking, skateboarding, surfing and sports climbing.
