Welcome to the highlights of the India vs Qatar FIFA 2022 World Cup Qualifier, live from Doha.
A disappointing night for India, from the word go. Qatar had large chunks of the possession from the start, as they putting in the ball in Gurpreet's direction.
They were dealt a severe blow when Rahul Bheke was sent off in the 17th minute. 16 minutes later, despite a improved defensive show, India went 1-0 down thanks to a low shot, close range goal from Abdel Aziz. It took that lead into half-time.
The start of the second half saw Igor Stimac ring in the changes, as even Sunil Chhetri was subbed for Udanta Singh. Gurpreet had a good second half, making some fine saves, but India could not get the equaliser and suffered another defeat.
India has two more chances, the first of which is on Monday against Bangladesh, at the same venue. Until then, its goodbye and stay safe!
The referee blows the final whistle and India goes 1-0 to Qatar in Doha.

After a disappointing opening 45 minutes, India needs a very strong second-half to get anything from this game.

33' GOAL!!!! Abdel Aziz gives Qatar the lead. He fires in a shot with his left foot from close range which beat Gurpreet.
31' India may have lost Bheke, but that seems to have spurred the defense up as Jhingan does well to put the ball away, from a possible goal opportunity.
29' AGONISING FOR INDIA! Ashique Kuruniyan puts in a low shot with his left foot, but Boulam is there to prevent Manvir from converting that into a goal.
27' Bassam takes a shot from a far distance, but the ball is well above the goalkeeper.
25' CORNER FOR QATAR! Abdel Haziz swings the ball in, AbdelKarim gets a head on it , but the ball is wide. A good chance scuffed.
23' India has had very little periods of possession, but it has largely been Qatar, who has had much of the ball.
17' RAHUL BHEKE HAS BEEN A SHOWN A RED CARD FOR HANDBALL!. Captain Al Haydos looks to put in a cross from the left, the ball hits Bheke on his right hand and the referee shows the red card. WOW!

10' FREE KICK for Qatar. Abdel Haziz swings in a ball, but it does seem like the ball clipped Jhingan's hands, but the ball is eventually cleared away.

8' Qatar posing a lot of questions in the Indian half, but unable to create the chance that could give them the lead. They have definitely begun better than India.
4' A bit of luck for India? Abdelkarim is brought down by Jhingan in the box, but the referee seems fine with it.
3' A low shot comes in from the left foot of Abdel Haziz Hatim, but there is no venom in it and it lands straight in the hands of Gurpreet.
2' Qatar has enjoyed the bulk of the possession in the early stages of this match. An ambitious ball comes in Gurpreet's direction, who tosses it outside the playing field.

JUST A REMINDER: India is almost out of contention for a top two finish in its group , but a third-place finish is still possible for them. It will help book them a direct berth in the third round for the 2023 Asian Cup Qualifiers.
If India finishes fourth then it can progress into the Asian Cup qualifying third round if it ends amongst the four best fourth-placed teams across all groups. If it ends fifth in the table, it will have to play in the Asian Cup Qualifying play-off round.
