India to vote for Sheikh Salman in FIFA election

The AIFF vice-president said that Sheikh Salman has always supported India and would know the functioning of football in Asia, having been the head of Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

All India Football Federation (AIFF) Vice President Subrata Dutta confirmed today that India will vote for Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa in the up-coming FIFA elections.

Dutta said that Sheikh Salman has always supported India and would know the functioning of football in Asia, having been the head of Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

“FIFA has been supporting India quite a bit recently and if he (Sheikh Salman) gets elected, we expect that to get better,” said Dutta to

Sheikh Salman has the backing of the Asian and African football confederations. He is considered a front-runner along with Gianni Infantino to be Sepp Blatter's successor. In his campaign, Salman said that Infantino's plan for FIFA might lead the governing body to bankruptcy.
