“You must have been informed that after the conclusion of the match the home team spectators were hurling water bottles at the ground. The players of both the sides and match officials were forced to remain at the pitch for at least 20 minutes post match when spectators in the upper tier started throwing chairs,” Debasish Dutta, director of Bagan wrote to the I-League CEO, Sunanda Dhar on Saturday. “This is not the first incident of violent conduct happening at Aizawl this season. Similar unruly behaviour of Aizawl FC supporters were reported after the matches against Neroca FC and East Bengal. I am issuing this letter as a request to take measures to stop such excessive hooliganism. The failure to stop such behaviour of the home supporters will affect the standard of the game as the referees will be hesitant in executing their job,” Dutta’s letter said, while urging the organisers to take action.
