Chhetri, Miku show floors Pune City

Sunil Chhetri and Miku, Bengaluru FC's lethal strike force, returned to haunt FC Pune City in front of its own fans.

Chhetri and Miku now have a combined 10 goals in five matches against FC Pune City.

A brace from Bengaluru FC skipper Sunil Chhetri and a third from Miku sunk the FC Pune City to a 3-0 defeat at the Balewadi stadium here on Monday.

As it happened Chhetri marked his first-half goals with a touch of class. Dimas Delgado picked the striker out with a scooped pass and watched in delight as the costliest Indian striker in Indian Super League brought down the ball with his midriff, turned and slammed inside to the onrushing goalkeeper. The next strike came off a Miku pass as Chhetri trapped and turned to floor the defender before blasting the ball home. However, it was the home team who got the first look at goal, but it failed to test Gurpreet Singh Sandhu under the BFC bar. Marcelinho, starting for the first time this season, pulled the trigger after a solo run from strike partner Emiliano Alfaro, who ran out of space to take a shot of his own. Gurpreet tracked the ball flying away from danger. Following attempts by Miku at the other end, Marcelinho picked his spot in goal from a free-kick. The Brazilian angled the ball away from the wall and towards the right corner. Gurpreet, alert to the threat, stretched out to punch the ball away for a corner. Pune City's goalkeeper Vishal Kaith was also called into action as BFC went on a goal hunt. He mopped up a Chhetri header before seeing off another first-time try by the latter fly wide. Udanta Singh's pace and trickery on the right flank demanded attention from the Pune City defence

Down by three goals, Pune City substitute Diego Carlos struck the post with a fierce shot from outside the box. The margin of the loss would hurt last season's semifinalist who now have just a point in the three matches played so far.
