Kuiper flays Donald

They fought together when South Africa returned to the international scene in a rather dramatic manner in 1991. Now pace bowling great Allan Donald, in the evening of a glorious career, and former hard-hitting middle-order batsman Adrian Kuiper, find themselves in different roles.
Well, Donald looked a shadow of his former self in the World Cup games against the West Indies and New Zealand - South Africa lost both the games and Kuiper, who now writes a column for the Citizen newspaper, came down hard on the senior paceman.
"There comes a time in everyone's career. He isn't bowling with confidence and is only bowling at half pace,'' wrote Kuiper, who represented the Proteas in 25 ODIs and a Test, his last international appearance coming in '96.
"The attack hasn't jelled and Allan Donald hasn't been a real threat. I think it could be the end of the road for Donald,'' Kuiper said. In any case, Donald will be bidding adieu from international cricket at the conclusion of the World Cup.
