Breakdancing could be a new addition to the Olympic schedule at the 2024 Games in Paris, with baseball and softball on their way out again.

Paris 2024 will propose to the International Olympic Committee that breakdancing should be included in the program in five years. The sport was among the events in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires.

Surfing, climbing and skateboarding — all of which will debut in Tokyo next year — were also proposed for the 2024 Games on Thursday. The IOC will make decisions on which sports are included in the French capital in December 2020.

Next summer's Olympics in Japan also will feature karate, baseball and softball (the latter two considered one sport by the IOC), but those sports did not make the cut for potential 2024 inclusion. Baseball was an official Olympic sport from 1992-2008 and softball from 1996-2008 before being dropped for the London and Rio Games.

Other sports that had campaigned to be included in the 2024 program but fell short include squash, chess and snooker.
