The hearing into shot-putter Inderjeet Singh's doping case finally made some progress during a session at the NADA here on Monday with the two parties agreeing to drop the Dope Control Officer (DCO) from Hyderabad as a witness and move ahead with the case.

The next hearing of the case has been fixed on December 18.

Inderjeet Singh had tested positive for a sample collected on June 29 last year in Hyderabad in the run-up to the Rio Olympics. Sources said the DCO responsible for collecting the sample no longer worked with NADA, hence, he refused to come for cross-examination by Inderjeet's lawyers.

One of Inderjeet's samples collected at Sonepat on June 22, 2016 tested positive. The preliminary NADA report on the June 29 test sent to the Athletics Federation of India had stated that Inderjeet had tested negative before saying that the additional tests had returned positive, leading to the athlete and his lawyers contesting the discrepancy.
