Kolkata’s 25K run becomes international

Besides becoming the only international race of the country for a distance of 25km, the marathon will offer an increased prize purse of USD 100,000.

In its fourth edition, the Tata Steel Kolkata (TSK) 25K is all set to become an international race when it is held here on December 17.

Besides becoming the only international race of the country for a distance of 25km, TSK 25K will offer an increased prize purse of USD 100,000.

Announcing its launch at a press conference here on Tuesday in the presence of face of the event and former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, the organisers promised a strong international field. Legendary athlete Mike Powell has been roped in as the event ambassador.

Registration for TSK 25K will be open from 7 a.m. on Wednesday. Online registration can be done through http://tsk25.procamrunning.in . Registrations close on November 30 or whenever running places are filled.

Entry fees for different categories are Rs 900 (25K), Rs 600 (10K), Rs 350 (Ananda Run) and Rs 200 (Senior Citizen’s Run and Champions with Disability Run).

In its previous edition, the event offered Rs 24 lakh (USD 36, 805.31) as prize money.
