Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches the 'Khelo India' app as Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore looks, in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The Khelo India mobile application was launched by Narendra Modi, India’s Prime Minister, at the National Youth Parliament Festival here on Wednesday.

The application is created to help increase awareness among Indians about fitness and sports and to help identify talent, as part of the Khelo India scheme. Aiming to guide aspiring children — through guardians and teachers — to become fitter and to pursue sports professionally, the application has three broad sections of information — How to Play, Where to Play, and Get Fit.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, said, “Today marks a momentous leap forward for sports in India. The [application] will revolutionise every aspect of fitness and sports in the country and harness technology to help identify and nurture talent from a young age.”

The application is available in two languages — English and Hindi. Once downloaded, it can be used even without internet connection.
