England has reached the semifinals of the Women’s World Cup in back-to-back editions of the tournament (also 2015); it has never reached the final four in the competition before this. ▲ No pressure, England | The Lionesses had elite members in their cheerleading squad in Le Havre. David Beckham with daughter Harper and mother Sandra were spotted in the stands during the quarterfinal. ▲ England supporters at Glastonbury Festival had quite a few reasons to celebrate as his team beat Norway 3-0 in the quarterfinal of the Women's World Cup. ▲ England has scored three or more goals in back-to-back Women's World Cup games for the first time; it had never scored more than twice in a knockout stage tie before 2019. ▲ Ellen White is now England's outright record goalscorer at the Women's World Cup (6 goals), with her strike against Norway moving her ahead of Fara Williams (5). She is also the second English player to score in four consecutive FIFA World Cup appearances after Gary Lineker between 1986 and 1990 - she is the first English player to do so in a single edition. ▲ Jill Scott (2007, 2011 and 2019) is only the second ever player to score in three separate Women's World Cup tournaments for England, after Fara Williams (2007, 2011 and 2015). ▲ Lucy Bronze is the first England player to both score and assist a goal in the same Women's World Cup game since Jill Scott against New Zealand in 2011; all five of her goal involvements (3 goals, 2 assists) at the FIFA Women's World Cup have been in the knockout stages. ▲ Before this match, Norway had progressed from four of its five Women’s World Cup quarter-finals (1991, 1995, 1999, 2007), losing only in 2003 against the USA. This loss to England unsettles that statistic. ▲
