Sakshi Malik ended India's medal drought in the Games after downing Kyrgyzstan's Aisuluu Tynybekova in the 58 kg wrestling match. Sakshi was 0-5 down but came back in the dying seconds of the bout to win the bronze medal match 8-5. She became the fourth Indian woman to win a medal for India.

Brazil's men's football team reached the final courtesy of a 6-0 thrashing of Honduras, with Neymar scoring the first and sixth goals.

Day 14 will see India's P. V. Sindhu battle Japan's Nozomi Okuhara for a place in the final. A victory will ensure a silver medal for Sindhu. The day offers 23 gold medals.
