Asian Shotgun championship: Mairaj and Sheeraz finish with identical scores

Mairaj had rounds of 25, 24 and 24 while Sheeraz shot a sequence of 25, 25 and 23, both shot identical scores of 73. The third Indian in the fray, Gurjoat Khangura had 69 following rounds of 23, 22 and 24.

Mairaj had rounds of 25, 24 and 24 in his final scoreline of 73 in the 6th Asian Shotgun championship.

Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Sheeraz Sheikh shot identical scores of 73 and trailed the leader Saud Habib of ‘’Independent Shooting Participant’’ by one point in men’s skeet after three rounds in the 6th Asian Shotgun championship in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

Mairaj had rounds of 25, 24 and 24 while Sheeraz shot a sequence of 25, 25 and 23. The third Indian in the fray, Gurjoat Khangura had 69 following rounds of 23, 22 and 24. Two more rounds will be followed by the knock-out phase on Wednesday.

In women’s skeet, however, India was below par, as Rashmee Rathore shot 67 and placed ninth, even though she missed the knock-out phase by one point. Israpa Imprsertsuk of Thailand who shot 68 and won the shoot-off along with Olga Panarina of Kazakhstan ahead of Reem Al Sharshan of Qatar, went on to bag the silver medal behind Afrah Mohammad of ISP.

Since Kuwait has been suspended by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) its shooters compete as ISP. The third Indian in the fray, former national champion, Saniya Sheikh shot 61 following rounds of 23, 19, 19 and placed 17th.
