Sheeraz Sheikh and Olympian Mairaj Ahmad Khan got off to strong starts in men’s skeet with scores of 50 and 49 respectively in the Shotgun World Cup in Korea on Friday.
Sheeraz had two perfect rounds for his 50 which saw him being on par with three others in a field of 84 shooters.
Mairaj had 24 and 25 that put him on par with 16 others. There was no third member for the Indian team as there was no time to send a replacement for national champion Angad Vir Singh Bajwa who withdrew with a stomach ailment.

Three more rounds will be shot on Saturday, followed by the final for the top six.
Ganemat Sekhon, who had 72 out of 75 on the opening day of women’s skeet, tumbled to the 21st spot with a total of 115, following rounds of 21 and 22 on Friday.
She missed the final by four points, even as World and Olympic champion Kimberly Rhode of the U.S. won her third World Cup gold for the season.
The Italians, reigning Olympic champion Diana Bacosi and Chiara Cainero, won the two Olympic quota places, along with the silver and bronze medals.
