ISSF Junior World Championship 2024: India adds five more gold medals

The added haul took India’s overall tally to 14 with the country’s shooters claiming 10 gold, one silver and three bronze medals so far in the competition.

Divanshi shot at her best in the final to clinch the gold in the 25-metre sports pistol event of the World junior shooting championship in Lima, Peru.

Divanshi shot 35 in the final to beat Cristina Magnani of Italy by two points. She had qualified for the final in the fifth place with 577.

Along with Tejaswani and Vibhuti Bhatia, Divanshi also won the team gold to boost the medals tally for India.

In fact, the 25-metre sports pistol event contributed two more gold medals, as Mukesh Nelavalli won the junior men’s individual gold, and the team gold along with Suraj Sharma and Padhyumn Singh.

In the 50-metre rifle 3-position event, Shourya Saini finished seventh in the final, but won the team gold along with Vedant Waghmare and Parikshit Singh Brar.

Thus India took its tally to 10 gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

USA was second with two gold, four silver and four bronze, ahead of Italy and China, which also had two gold medals each.
