Shooting World Cup: Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary win mixed silver

The world-beating duo of Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary was beaten to the gold in the mixed air pistol team event by the Russians 16-12 in the shooting World Cup in Osijek, Croatia, on Saturday.

The world-beating duo of Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary was beaten to the gold in the mixed air pistol team event by the Russians 16-12 in the shooting World Cup in Osijek, Croatia, on Saturday.

Manu and Saurabh, who have won a string of gold medals in the World Cups, topped the first stage of qualification, one point ahead of the Russians with 587. However, the latter asserted their class in the second stage with a three-point lead over the Indian team before dominating the final.

 

The second Indian team of Yashaswini Deswal and Abhishek Verma was fourth in the first qualification and third in the second qualification. The Iranians Javad Foroughi and Golnoush Sebghatollahi won the bronze match against Yashaswini and Abhishek 17-7.

In mixed air rifle, Elavenil Valarivan and Divyansh Singh Panwar, who had won the gold in the Delhi World Cup in March, were eliminated in the second stage in sixth place. The pair shot 416.1 and missed the chance to fight for a medal by 1.6 points. Even in the first stage of qualification, the Indian team came fifth.

The other Indian team of Anjum Moudgil and Deepak Kumar was placed 15th with 624.6 in the first stage of qualification.
