The Indian shooters completed their brilliant show in the World Cup Final, in which they had accounted for three individual gold medals, by clinching a bunch of medals including the gold in both the rifle and pistol mixed team competitions in Putian, China, on Friday.
It was a moment of crowning glory for Manu Bhaker, who had earlier won the women’s pistol gold, as she partnered Russian Artem Chernousov for the mixed air pistol gold, in the President’s trophy competition.
It was an incredible show of domination by Manu, who had won all the four World Cup mixed gold medals with Saurabh Chaudhary. She had won the Asian championship gold with Abhishek Verma recently.
Manu and Chernousov beat Saurabh Chaudhary and Anna Korakaki of Greece 17-15 for the gold. Shahzar Rizvi won the bronze to complete the medal collection in mixed air pistol.
In mixed air rifle, Divyansh Sing Panwar won the gold in partnership with Snjezana Pejcic of Croatia, as the duo beat Apurvi Chandela and Zhang Changhong of China 16-14. Like Manu, Divyansh had also won the individual gold earlier in men’s air rifle.

Since it was an international mixed competition, the medals did not count for the overall tally of the teams. That did not stop India from topping the medals table with three gold medals. China finished second with two gold, a silver and a bronze.
It was an apt finish to an amazing season in which India had topped the medals table in each of the four World Cups for rifle and pistol in Delhi, Beijing, Munich and Rio de Janeiro.
